GN Company Technical Department’s Suggestions about Centrifuge for Clarification Application

For the mixture of large amount of liquid phase and small amount of solid phase, Clarification means to remove the small amount of solid phase from the liquid phase, to make the liquid phase as clean as possible.

(1) Physical Specifications
Clarify the solid phase in the liquid phase, and size, shape, properties of the particles contained in the solid phase, as well as the liquid phase temperature, Ph, viscosity, and specific gravity of the liquid-solid.

(2) Liquid Phase Requirement after Clarification
Solids content in the liquid phase, and moisture content in the solid phase.

(3) Selection of the Centrifuge Model
The big amount of liquid phase has a small amount of solid phase, and the particle size of the solid phase is very small (less than 10 μm) or amorphous mycelium. GN Technical Engineers suggest clients to consider about Decanter Centrifuge, Disc Centrifuge, or Tube Centrifuge. Tube or Disc Manual Slag Discharge Centrifuge can be applicable if the solid phase content is <1% and the particle size is <5µm. If the solid phase content is ≤3% and the particle size is <5µm, Disc Piston Slag Discharge Centrifuge is better. Tube centrifuge has high separation factor (f≥1000), which can separate smaller particles with particle size of about 0.5um, and obtain clear liquid. After separation, the solid residue is closely attached while cannot transfer. It is dry attached to the inside of drum. So the machine needs to be disassembled and cannot be continuously procedured when the dross is removing. And for facilitating the dross removal, some of the drums are lined with a thin plastic paper tube, and the paper tube can be pulled out when the dross is discharged. Disc Centrifuge also has high separation factor (f = 1000). Due to the disc combination, the sedimentation area is large and the sedimentation distance is small. The resulting clear liquid is also good, and the processing capacity is larger than that of the tube centrifuge, but the separation result is that the solid phase produced is also deposited on the inner wall of the drum, and it needs to be dismantled regularly to remove slag, so it cannot be continuously produced.

Overview about Centrifuge’s Applications and Selection

There are different processing requirement in the production process, including Dehydration, Clarification, Concentration, Classification, and Separation. The essence of Dehydration and Clarification is to separate solids and liquid in the suspension, Dehydration is to remove liquid phase from solid phase, and Clarification is to remove solid phase from liquid. Concentration is to increase the content of solid phase in the solid-liquid mixture. Classification is the separation of particles of different size in the suspension. Separation generally refers to the separation of two mutually incompatible liquid phases.

GN Company Developed New Market for Decanter Centrifuge

GN Company Technical Engineers developed new Technology for Decanter Centrifuge, including dewatering, separation, and clarifying.

Dewatering Decanter Centrifuge is mainly used for dewatering of municipal and industrial wastewater sludge. It is designed for easy separation material, such as coarse particle size, high density difference of solid and liquid, low viscosity, high concentration. And its main application is for drilling mud, ETP, WWTP, oily sludge, cutting fluid, etc.

Separation Decanter Centrifuge has beach angle of 15 degree, it is designed both for clarity of liquid phase after separation, also for the dryness of solids phase. The decanter centrifuge is especially suitable for find soft material separation, which is difficult to separate. This decanter centrifuge is suitable for small particles, small density difference of solid and liquid, large viscosity and small concentration. And its main application is for soybean milk, plant starch recovery, fermentation liquid, baths, etc.

Clarifying Decanter Centrifuge, with beach angle of 20 degree, suits for small particle size, low density difference between solids and liquid, moderate viscosity, moderate concentration. And its main application material is for Edible Oil, Pectin, Plant Protein, Animal Protein, Starch, Juice, etc.

Olive Oil Production and Processing Description

GN Company is a professional manufacturer of Decanter & Separator, widely used for Solid Liquid Separation, Slurry Clarification, and Sludge Dewatering in different industries, including Olive Oil Production and Processing.

Please find description about Olive Oil production as follow, and what Decanter & Separator can be used for.

1. Firstly removing leaves from Olive fruits, and cleaning the fruit.
2. Secondly crushing the fruit, grinding, and making the Olive Oil out.
3. Feeding the mixture into Decanter Centrifuge by Progressive Cavity Pump, for solid liquid separation.
4. Feeding the light phase (liquid outlet from Decanter) into Disc Separator, for oil, water and little solid separation.
5. If the Oliver Fruit is high quality, the Olive Oil from Disc Separator is Edible.
If the Oliver Fruit is not low quality, it is necessary to refine the Olive Oil from Disc Separator, for high purification and Edible.
6. The heavy phase from Decanter Centrifuge and Disc Separator would be dry, stocked, and can be used for Energy.

Indian client ordered one unit of GNSP-20B Vacuum Pump from GN Company, and it would be shipped before the Chinese New Year Holiday. That pump can be used for transferring Sludge, Powder, High Solid Content Sludge, High Density/Viscosity Sludge, Slurry, Water, etc.

The horizontal suction distance can be 50~100 meters, and discharge distance can be 500~1000 meters. Vertical suction depth can be 8 meters, and lift/head can reach 80 meters. (capacity calculated based on clean water)

There is no cost of Electricity or Diesel for GN Vacuum Pump, and it is 100% air operation. The air source from Air Compressor is suggested, which is always available in the majority of factories.
