Big Bowl Decanter Centrifuge Used for HDD Mud Recycling System

In a common and normal and most cases’ HDD mud recycling unit or systems, there
are separation equipment like shale shaker and desander cones, and a jet mud

In a recent order of GN, China CPP ordered 8 sets of highest
standard 500GPM mud recycling system combined by 2 tanks. One tank is for shale shaker and desanders, the other is
for 2 sets of centrifuges. But the centrifuge tank and the application of the 2
centrifuges are for option, not only mean that this design is for option, but
also that on jobsite work, the operators could choose to use the centrifuges or
not, in order to get different standard fine mud.

These centrifuges are big bowl centrifuges of 18 inch
diameter bowl, which was economic configuration model in GN’s centrifuge family and was designed at a
middle speed of 1800RPM and used mostly in solids control systems for oil
and gas drilling
for barite recovery. In this design of the HDD system, it
is used for separate out the particles larger than 2 microns and was customized
to have a VFD control panel to enable the speed to be in range of 0 to 1800
RPM.

In the standard high configuration designs of GNMS-200G,
GNMS500G and GNMS-1000G systems, there are separation equipments like shale
shaker, desander, desilter and mixing devices like jet mud mixer. But if you
think the centrifuge is necessary per your jobsite, we could recommend the most
suitable centrifuge for you. We have 9 inch, 14 inch, 18 inch and 22 inch bowl

1. The
cylindrical and conical section of the bowl is made from duplex stainless steel
2205 which is better than stainless steel 316L. Stainless steel 316 is always
adopted by China’s other solids control company; even stainless steel 304 is
adopted.

2. The bowl is manufactured by centrifugal cast which means that the bowl has a
better balance. Only the decanter centrifuges pass the balance test, they can
be delivered.

3. Tungsten
carbide tile is attached on the screws to protect the screw from wear, and when
the tungsten carbide tiles is worn out, it is easy and convenient to replace
with re-doing the balance test.

For the updated decanter centrifuge, there
are more advantages:

1. Solids
discharge cover is added above the solids discharge port to prevent the solids
discharged to the inner cover of bowl.

2. Special
ceramic mud distribution port on the screw will extend the decanter centrifuge’s
service life.

Hydrocyclone Installation

The 4 inch hydrocyclone is for GN Solids
Control’s desilter
which contain between 8 cones to 16
cones.  The structure of the desilter is
same as desander that pair with shale shaker as well.  The desander will remove the +40 microns of solids
and desilter will remove +20 microns of solids.
The shale shaker pair with desander and desilter is linear motion with
either 2 Martin or  2 OLI brand motor
which can produce adjustable G force up to 7.5 G of force. The panel of screen
are choice of  2, 3  and 4 depend the need of the drilling
