Dredging Slurry Separation System

It is very strange that China even
have more strict environmental requirement on the dredging field than all over
the world, on the waste solids disposal and also the fluid dump, no matter
how it have been applied on field, in paper it is really advanced. So

in dredging field said. Just like you have done in drilling

environmental protection. For dredging, what we need is: Recycle the cleaner fluids.

Dump and reuse as much as possible on
the solids.

Not like the oil gas drilling, from the
pond, or from the river, from sea, there are sands, rocks, and other
things as you can imagine which have been buried in it. So
the separation seems very different. Except the basic concepts.

Separate the biggest particles and
other stuff other than the sands and silts. There are many ways to do this, one
is dig another pit / pond, with at big screen from where dredging pump
feeds, let the screen separate unreasonable parts to the pond, keep them away
from the progress. Another way is gumbo box, it is quite same as
the mining applications, to separate the biggest rocks from the first
step, then others feeding directly to the shale
shaker.

Then directly, or by another pump from the
pond. The feeding goes to the double deck shaker. In GN Solids Control , it is GNZS706E,
which is good to separate the bigger sands and the most of
the bigger solids. going through two sieves. 

Catched by the pump, feeding to the
cyclones, to get the silts separated.

Then in the same way, separated by the
decanter centrifuge.

Sometimes it also need help from chemicals
that why a flocculent unit is there. To concentric the small particles
to be bigger ones, then easier to be separated.

GN Fixation Unit for Drilling Waste Management

waste discharged from shale shaker & mud cleaner &

1)      
Use one set vertical
cuttings drye
r + one set decanter centrifuge at rigsite. During drilling
period, the drilling waste discharged from shaker will go to vertical cuttings
dryer for recycle and reuse. The discharge solids from vertical dryer will be
collected by cuttings skips. The drilling fluids will go to centrifuge to
remove fine solids and then, go back to active mud tank for reuse.

2)      
The cuttings skips for vertical
dryer, cuttings skips for mud cleaner and cuttings skips for centrifuge will be
taken to mud factory which have thermal desorption unit for final treatment.

3)      
Vertical cuttings dryer is
mostly used in oil based mud drilling waste management. If for water based mud
drilling cuttings treatment, high G shaker is mostly
used. Because of lower environmental containment of WBM, high G dryer is very
lower cost than vertical cuttings dryer.

Like client from Algeria / Gabon, they like
to use cuttings fixation unit for final treatment at rigsite. They transfer the
drilling waste into the fixation unit, with curing agent.

outside shell is stainless steel material with excellent appearance. It is
positive pressurized control box with cooling tube or air conditioner for
working in high temperature. The VFD is ABB or Siemens brand. PLC smart control
with HMI interface is for manual and automatic operation and protection.

All GN’s control panels except VFD type are
Ex marks as Ex d II Bt4 for Class 1, Division 2 application. All the positive
pressurized VFD control panels are Ex mark as EXdeib PZ IIB T6 for Class 1,
Division 2 application. ATEX and IEC explosion proof certified are also

There are 2 main sources of drill solids
particles are the chemical additives and formal drilling cuttings, the drilling
cuttings are containments that degrade the performance of drilling mud. The
drilling particles will be ground into smaller and smaller and become more and
more difficult to remove from drilling mud if the drilling cuttings that not removed as per guide. Most of the
formal drill solids will be able to be removed by mechanical ways by drill
solids separate equipment and small drill particle will be very difficult to
remove and will have a great effect on drilling mud properties than the very
larger drill solids particles . The solids particle size in drilling mud
incorporated into drill mud will be range from 1 to 250 microns.

 The clay, colloidal and bentonizte will be
size between 1 to 5 microns, silt, barites and fine cement dust will be 6 to 44
microns, fine sand will be between 44 to 74 microns, API sand will be 105 to
149 microns, coarse sand can be 500 – 1000 microns, coarse that larger than
2000 microns, there will be colloidal that bellow 2 microns.

Drilling solids particles are the main contaminant
in the drilling mud, so the control of the importance of the good solids
control including increased the penetration rate and reduce mud cost, reduce
water requirement, reduce mixing problem, reduce differential striking, etc.
The drilling solids removal is important to keep drilling mud recycling and re-use.
The
